Photographer
Marwan was born in the coastal city Beirut, where he lived and worked as a photographer. He began his career as a photojournalist in 2000.
Marwan is an experienced professional photographer with a robust background in collaborating with leading international photo agencies such as Getty Images and AFP, and FactStory Agency, as well as renowned publications like Le Point, Yale Journal of International Affairs, Journal du Dimanche, and ICON Magazine. Since 2000, he has contributed to various Lebanese local media platforms and newspapers, showcasing his versatility and dedication to visual storytelling. Since 2017, he has been collaborating with AE gallery in Potsdam, in Germany.
He has also worked extensively with both International and local organizations and NGOs, such as the United Nations, ICRC, World Vision, Mine Advisory Group, and many others. Specializing in documenting major incidents in conflict zones and natural disasters across Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen, he brings a wealth of firsthand experience to his work. His photographs have been prominently featured in exhibitions across Beirut, other Arab countries, as well as in Paris, Berlin, and the United States and Montreal.
In June 2016, he earned a Master Diploma in Photography from the esteemed École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, France.
From 2019 until 2024, amidst Lebanon’s protracted crisis, Marwan’s work increasingly focused on capturing the country’s shifting social, economic, and political landscape. Alongside various artistic projects, he documented the daily lives of Beirut’s residents with a raw and empathetic lens.
Marwan’s photographic vision has been deeply influenced by his long-standing interest in cinema. Beyond his photojournalistic work, he maintains a passion for street photography and black-and-white portraiture, which continue to shape his artistic expression.
He currently lives between Montreal and Beirut.

Marwan est né dans la ville côtière de Beyrouth, où il a vécu et travaillé comme photographe. Il a commencé sa carrière de photojournaliste en 2000.
Marwan est un photographe professionnel expérimenté qui a collaboré avec de grandes agences photographiques internationales telles que Getty Images, AFP et FactStory Agency, ainsi qu’avec des publications renommées telles que Le Point, Yale Journal of International Affairs, Journal du Dimanche et ICON Magazine. Depuis 2000, il a contribué à divers médias et journaux locaux libanais, démontrant sa polyvalence et son dévouement à la narration visuelle. Depuis 2017, il collabore avec la galérie AE à Potsdam, en Allemagne.
Il a également beaucoup travaillé avec des organisations internationales et locales et des ONG, telles que les Nations unies, le CICR, World Vision, Mine Advisory Group et bien d’autres. Spécialisé dans la documentation des incidents majeurs dans les zones de conflit et les catastrophes naturelles au Liban, en Syrie, en Turquie et au Yémen, il apporte à son travail une riche expérience de terrain. Ses photographies ont été largement présentées dans des expositions à Beyrouth, dans d’autres pays arabes, ainsi qu’à Paris, Berlin, aux États-Unis et à Montréal.
En juin 2016, il a obtenu un master en photographie à la prestigieuse École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles, en France.
De 2019 à 2024, alors que le Liban traverse une crise prolongée, Marwan concentre de plus en plus son travail sur la capture des changements sociaux, économiques et politiques qui s’opèrent dans le pays. Parallèlement à divers projets artistiques, il documente la vie quotidienne des habitants de Beyrouth avec un regard brut et empathique.
La vision photographique de Marwan a été profondément influencée par son intérêt de longue date pour le cinéma. Au-delà de son travail de photojournaliste, il cultive une passion pour la photographie de rue et le portrait en noir et blanc, qui continuent de façonner son expression artistique.
Il vit actuellement entre Montréal et Beyrouth.
